The University telephone system provides a number of standard features. Special
features and multi-line button sets allow for additional features to be programmed
for optimum use of the telephone. Standard features are system-wide features
and may be accessed from most campus phones. In some cases, multi-line telephone
sets will have pre-programmed buttons which produce the same results.
AUTOMATIC CALLBACK
This feature will monitor the status of a busy station and automatically dial it
when it becomes available. When this happens, your phone will automatically
receive a callback using a priority ring tone. Simply answer your phone and
it will automatically ring the previously busy extension.
To auto callback on a single-line phone:
- When you hear the busy tone, press [Flash] or press the switchhook for one second-listen
for dial tone.
- Dial * 5 plus the busy number.
- Hang up.
To auto callback on a multi-line phone:
- When you hear the busy tone, press [Transfer] - listen for dial tone.
- Dial * 5 plus the busy number.
- Press [Transfer] and hang up.
CALL FORWARDING
This feature allows you to direct your incoming calls to another extension or to
an off-campus phone number of your choice.
To activate call forwarding on any phone:
- Dial * 2 - listen for dial tone.
- Dial the destination number.
To cancel call forwarding:
- Dial # 2.
CALL PICKUP
This feature allows you to answer a call from another extension in your pickup group
while you are at your phone.
- Dial # 4.
DIRECTED CALL PICKUP
This feature allows you to pick up an incoming call from any extension.
To use this feature on any phone:
- Dial # 8 - listen for dial tone.
- Dial the number of the ringing phone.
TRANSFER
Transfer a call to another extension within the University.
To transfer on a single-line phone:
- Press the switchhook for one second or press the flash button.
- Dial the number you are transferring to.
- Announce the call when the dialed party answers.
- Hang up.
To transfer on a multi-line phone:
- Press the transfer button.
- Dial the extension you wish to transfer to.
- Press transfer again. Hang up.
CALL PARK
This feature allows you to place a call on hold, and retrieve the call from another
phone.
To park the call on a single-line phone:
- Press [Flash] or press the switchhook for one second - listen for dial tone.
- Dial #0 - listen for three short beeps and hang up.
To park the call on a multi-line phone:
- Press [Transfer] - listen for dial tone.
- Dial #0 - listen for three short beeps.
- Press [Transfer] and hang up.
To retrieve a parked call from another extension on any type of phone:
- Dial #7 - listen for three short beeps.
- Dial the extension where the call is parked.
DIRECT TRANSFER TO VOICE MAIL
This feature allows you to transfer a call directly into a voice mailbox without
ringing the subscriber's phone.
- Press [Transfer].
- Dial 6-4251.
- Press [Call].
- Press [Talk].
- Enter the extension of the desired mailbox.
- Press [Complete] or [Transfer].
- Hang up.
LAST NUMBER REDIAL
This feature allows you to redial the last number placed from your phone.
To redial the last number dialed on any phone:
- Dial #9.
PRIORITY CALLING
This feature allows you to override the system coverage on a phone. As an example,
if a phone is on send-all-calls, this feature will force the call to ring on the
phone dialed.
To priority call on any phone:
- Dial *1 plus the extension.
SEND ALL CALLS
This feature allows you to direct your incoming calls to call-coverage. The most
common point of coverage is voice mail.
To activate send all calls on any phone with call-coverage:
- Dial *3 or press [Send All Calls].
To cancel call coverage:
- Dial #3 or press [Send All Calls].
Note: This must be activated and cancelled on the user's phone.
EXTENSION TO CELLULAR (ECS) 2400 and 6400 series phones* (Special Feature)
This feature allows you to receive incoming extension calls on your cell phone.
Upon return to the office, the call can be continued on the extension phone without
interruption to the conversation.
To activate ECS with ECS500 button:
- Press [ECS500]. The [ECS500] button indicator will activate.
To cancel ECS with ECS500 button:
- Press [ECS500]. The [ECS500] button will go dark.
To activate ECS manually:
- Dial 128 - listen for dial tone.
- Dial # (if at ECS extension) or dial five digit extension then #.
- Enter security code #.
To cancel ECS manually:
- Dial 129 - listen for dial tone.
- Dial # (if at ECS extension) or dial five digit extension then #.
- Enter security code #.
The Security code is assigned through Telecommunication Services upon activation.
To move from cellular conversation to extension:
- Lift extension receiver and press call appearance button.
- End call on cellular deivce.
Using the above instructions, the feature must be activated and cancelled
on the user's phone. This feature is available on the 2400 and 6400 series multi-line
phones.
* This special feature must be programmed on your phone. Contact
Telecommunications for more information.
REMINDER / WAKE-UP CALL
This feature allows an automatic ring alert to be sent to your phone as a reminder
notification (i.e., meeting time).
To set reminder time:
- Dial 145 - listen for four short beeps - then hear dial tone.
- Enter reminder time in military hours (i.e., 1300 for 1:00 p.m.)-listen for three
short beeps.
- Hang up.
To cancel:
- Dial 145 - listen for four short beeps - then hear dial tone.
- Dial # - hear three short beeps.
- Hang up.
