Preamble
The university is currently rolling out a new phone system, and part of that system is a new voice
messaging component. What follows is a sequential explanation of the conversion to that new voice
messaging component.
March 2, 2021 - New Voice Messaging System Ready
On March 2nd there will be a link to the phone system overview page on the ntg site. This
page explains the changes that are coming with the phone system and what people need to do. The
voice mail boxes for all university system users have been set up in advance of this day with default
settings. All users of the system must log in to their voice mail box prior to the system going live
on March 15th at 5:00 pm. They must take possession of their voice mail box, change their
password from the default, and set up at least one greeting which will play when their number is
called.
March 15, 2021 - All Voice Messaging Active On New System
On March 15th at 5:00 pm, the phone numbers used to access the new voice mail system and the
old system will be changing. The current number, 836-5888, will be changed from pointing at the old
voicemail system to point to the new voicemail system. In addition, the current phone number that is
pointing at the new voicemail system, 836-3456, will be eliminated and a new number, 836-6913, will
be implemented to point at the old voicemail system.
Existing messages that are saved on the old voicemail system can not be moved to the new system, so they
will no longer be available once the old system is removed.
March 31, 2021 - Old Voicemail System Taken Off Line
On March 31st the old voicemail system will no longer be available. Please ensure that any
information that you will need in the future that is currently residing in archived messages is saved
somewhere to remain accessible. A limitation of the old system is that there is no way to forward
saved messages to email.
If you have any questions about this, please contact the Telecommunications office via email at
Telecommunications@MissouriState.edu or by phone at 6-5100 from on campus or
(417) 836-5100 from off campus.
